As a Tire Technician, you must inspect and assess damaged or worn tires on heavy company trucks, sweepers, vans, and vehicles. Replace or repair damaged tires, and balance or rotate tires. You are also required to provide roadside assistance.
Position Qualification /Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or an equivalent.
- Extensive knowledge of tire patterns and material composition.
- Relevant experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Bilingual English / Spanish preferred.
- Ability to work in a team environment in high pressure situations.
- General knowledge of trucks and heavy equipment.
- Must pass a pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening.
- Ability to lift / move heavy objects up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to climb in and out of heavy equipment.
- Ability to work in a crouched or standing position for extended periods.
- Ability to stand, bend, squat, stretch and pull.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to work in extreme noisy conditions.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
- Follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures.
- Inspecting and assessing tire tread levels, wear patterns, valve quality, and overall condition.
- Recommending appropriate repair treatment or replacement of tires.
- Repairing punctures and replacing faulty valves.
- Installing new tires.
- Balancing tires and completing wheel alignment procedures.
- Conducting inventory and maintaining equipment.
- Conducting road‑side repairs.
- Keep the workplace clean.
- Keep assigned service truck ready to go.
- Fill out work orders correctly.
- Separate tires from wheels, using rubber mallets and metal bars or mechanical tire changers.
- Perform other tasks related to the position that contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the shop in general.
- Locate punctures in tubeless tires by visual inspection or by immersing inflated tires in water baths and observing air bubbles.
- Use all safety related PPE such as gloves, safety glasses and tire cages while doing any work.
- All employees are subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing. Employees must adhere to Trans Premier’s drug and alcohol testing policy, which requires individual to go to an approved screening facility immediately after been notified; normally before, during or immediately at the end of a shift.
