Lead Journeyman Chiller Technician
OUC – The Reliable One is presently seeking a Lead Journeyman Chiller Technician to join our Chilled Water division.
A company vehicle may be assigned for business use, depending on scheduling and role demands.
We are seeking an experienced and technical professional to be responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, service, overhauls and repair activities in HVAC mechanical equipment. Chiller Factory Training Required.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Chilled Water Supervisor in planning and scheduling labor, equipment, material, spare parts, tools, and support requirements.
- Troubleshoot chilled water operational systems and HVAC mechanical equipment, including problem identification, evaluation of alternative solutions, and implementation of corrective action.
- Provide supervision to technicians and contractors during maintenance and repair activities.
- Lead and perform all maintenance, service, and major overhaul activities on low and high‑pressured water‑cooled centrifugal chillers equipped with single, two stage or three stage compressors.
- Identify and execute appropriate refrigerant recovery techniques and safety procedures used during detection and repair of refrigerant leaks.
- Understand and implement safety procedures and regulations as related to daily duties.
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
- Two (2) years of formal trade school training or equivalent experience with emphasis on HVAC mechanical equipment.
- Ten (10) years of experience in installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and service of low and high‑pressured water‑cooled centrifugal chillers (1000 tons and larger), air‑cooled chillers, cooling towers, pumps, valves.
- Mechanical Lead Technicians must have chiller factory training and comprehensive knowledge of centrifugal chillers and compressors, including disassembly and assembly of compressors, impellers and motor assemblies, and replacement of internal components.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Chiller factory training required.
- Certified Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Technician under EPA Section 608.
- Electric Lead Technicians must be licensed by the State of Florida for medium and high voltage systems.
- Instrumentation Lead Technicians must have factory training in programmable logic controllers, BACnet devices, and SCADA systems.

- Schedule:
Monday to Friday 6 AM – 2 PM.
Starting at $50,658 per hour (estimated $ annually) with a structured step progression and performance‑based pay increases every 6 months up to $54,467 (estimated $ annually).

Technical Requirements- Technical and operational understanding of all Chilled Water Systems.
- Willingness to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of general industrial safety skills.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced computer skills.
- High School diploma or equivalent education.
- Two (2) years of formal trade school training or equivalent experience with emphasis in HVAC mechanical equipment, electrical systems, or instrumentation systems.
- Ten (10) years of experience in installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and service of the aforementioned trades.
Job frequently involves exposure to excessive noise, heights, confined areas, occasional chemicals, and rarely includes extreme weather or insects.
