As a Kalmar Ottawa Service Technician II, you’ll be a trusted technical expert for our customers and a valued resource for your teammates. You’ll diagnose complex equipment issues, perform advanced repairs, and help ensure material handling equipment operates safely and efficiently. Your mechanical expertise, commitment to quality, and customer‑first mindset will help build lasting relationships and keep our customers productive and successful.
WhatYou’ll Do
Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems on a wide range of Kalmar Ottawa equipment. Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, failure analysis, welding, and major component repairs while ensuring equipment meets manufacturer standards. Maintain accurate service documentation, manage parts and supplies, and keep company vehicles and work areas safe, organized, and ready for service. Champion a Safety‑First culture, complete technical certifications, and support service leadership in attracting and developing top talent.
What You’ll Bring- High school diploma or GED and 3+ years of experience in forklift repair, heavy equipment, diesel, automotive, or a related mechanical field.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with the ability to read and use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and bore gauges.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and problem‑solving abilities, along with a commitment to continuous learning and technical development.
- Valid driver’s license, personal tool set, and the ability to travel to customer locations, lift up to 75 pounds, and participate in an on‑call rotation as needed.
