On-Call Position

Blue Man Group Orlando is looking for on-call Lighting Technicians.

The Lighting Technician covers the lighting responsibilities of the show. Lighting Technician crew members report to the Head of Lighting & Video for show notes and maintenance needs. Effective oral and written communication skills are essential, as are interpersonal skills. The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required. The ability to work within established deadlines is required. The ability to work effectively with diverse populations is required.

All crew positions work cross-departmentally and are not solely restricted to projects within their department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Provide show coverage on the Lighting track;
  • Adhere to all Scheduling, Department, and Company procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and as directed by the Lighting & Video HOD. Communicate all scheduling requests and challenges in a timely manner;
  • During the running of the show, perform all duties as outlined on the run sheets (including preset, show cues, turnover, and post-show) in a safe, professional, timely and efficient manner;
  • Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise;
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of all technical elements of the show under the Lighting & Video Department jurisdiction;
  • Participate in work calls or department meetings;
  • Execute general repair, troubleshooting, maintenance, and/or restock of supplies and equipment as needed;
  • Support systems for the maintenance, cleaning, and organization of work spaces;
  • Adhere to safety rules and regulations for locality and department;
  • Support gigs, trainings, rehearsals, and marketing events;
  • Participate in load-in and load-out and lend assistance to other departments as needed;
  • All other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • The ability to work effectively in a team environment is required;
  • Strong working knowledge of lighting equipment;
  • The ability to troubleshoot, identify, and repair lighting technologies;
  • Have a flexible schedule with communication skills;
  • GrandMA 3 Console knowledge is a plus;
  • The ability to work effectively in low-light environments;
  • Knowledge and operation of High End Systems HOG lighting consoles;
  • Experience operating video consoles during a live show;
  • Knowledge of Video systems is a plus;
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to handle technical issues swiftly during a live show;
  • Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
  • Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods;
  • Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support;
  • At least 2 years of previous experience, or in a similar environment;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications;
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Theater or a similar field; or equivalent relevant work experience;
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 10 course completion card;
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken;
    Ability to clearly and effectively communicate via headset;
  • Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays;
