Field/Service Technician, Installation Technician
Job Summary
Responsible for broadband installation and troubleshooting activities for voice, video, and data services. Completes field assessments, meets or exceeds company standards and metrics, and obtains required certifications and training for current role and future advancement. Functions in an entry‑level position with increasing proficiency and decreasing onsite supervision.
Core Responsibilities- Perform residential installations, service changes, and disconnects while following safe work practices, company procedures, and applicable electrical and safety codes.
- Diagnose and resolve network connection issues leading to customer equipment in service calls.
- Install and support basic home networks using coaxial cable, Ethernet, and Wi‑Fi technology based on customer needs.
- Verify service quality with required testing tools and adjust as needed to deliver reliable performance.
- Educate customers on products, services, equipment use, and set appropriate expectations.
- Accurately document completed work and update customer accounts using digital tools.
- Maintain, clean, and stock assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment; report safety concerns, incidents, or vehicle issues promptly.
- Operate ladders, hand tools, meters, and light power tools safely and correctly.
- Work at heights up to 26 feet on ladders, roofs, poles, or bucket trucks as required.
- Lift and carry equipment weighing 70 pounds or more; work in crawl spaces or attics; perform duties near electrical sources.
- Drive a company vehicle safely and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Complete required training, certifications, background checks, and licensing within defined time frames.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, supervisors, and coworkers.
- Meet or exceed established performance and safety standards.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certifications in relevant areas preferred.
- Strong communication, adaptability, critical thinking, problem‑solving, customer‑focused mindset, professional etiquette, resilience, self‑motivation, and technical knowledge.
- Physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds, work in confined and outdoor spaces, operate ladders, and work at heights of up to 26 feet.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
- Availability for flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.
$20.00 per hour plus quarterly bonuses and paid training.
