Marine Electrical Systems Expert
Regal Boats is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Electrical Expert to serve as the company's technical authority on vessel electrical systems. This role is responsible for overseeing the installation, testing, diagnostics, validation, and continuous improvement of electrical and electronic systems across multiple boat models. The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of marine DC and AC electrical systems, networked electronics, digital switching, power management, and advanced troubleshooting techniques.
This individual will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, and suppliers to ensure all electrical systems meet Regal's standards for safety, reliability, performance, and customer satisfaction while mentoring technicians and driving continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process.
Key responsibilities include serving as Regal's subject matter expert for all marine electrical and electronic systems throughout production, leading advanced diagnostics, performing system-level testing, verifying proper installation and functionality of various electrical components, troubleshooting communication networks, supporting installation and integration of various electronic systems, reviewing technical documentation, partnering with Engineering to resolve design-related electrical issues, collaborating with suppliers to investigate product performance concerns, mentoring and training electrical technicians, developing and improving testing procedures, maintaining calibration of testing equipment, supporting prototype builds and field issue investigations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with applicable electrical safety standards.
Required qualifications include 5+ years of experience in marine electrical installation, diagnostics, commissioning, or manufacturing, expert knowledge of marine DC and AC electrical systems, extensive experience with marine electronics and power distribution systems, strong understanding of marine networks and electronic control systems, advanced troubleshooting skills, ability to read and interpret technical documentation, proficiency with electrical testing equipment, strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills, demonstrated ability to mentor technicians, commitment to safety, quality, and craftsmanship, and proficiency in conversational English.
Preferred qualifications include ABYC Electrical Certification, NMEA Marine Electronics Installer Certification, experience with Garmin Marine Electronics, experience with digital switching platforms, familiarity with diagnostic software, experience in boat manufacturing or marine service environments, associate's degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology or related field, and experience supporting sea trials, prototype development, and product validation testing.
Work environment must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature, reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit sical demands include bending at the waist and knees, standing for extended periods, climbing into and out of boats using stairs, lifting 50 pounds, working 10-hour days with most of the time being on their feet, and working overtime.
