Fiber Technician / Lead Installer
Leads small crews and performs advanced fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting while ensuring quality and safety compliance.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead crews of 2-4
- Plan daily work, sequence tasks
- Validate fiber test results and documentation
- Walk jobsite with supervisors/owners
- Support warranty documentation
- Perform mechanical and fusion splicing
- Conduct OTDR and power meter testing
- Build MDF/IDF rooms and fiber management
- Patch management standards
- Basic networking concepts (patching, VLAN awareness)
Required qualifications:
- 4–6 years structured cabling experience
- Proven leadership capability
Preferred qualifications:
- BICSI Installer 2 — Fiber (INSTF)
- Fusion splicing certification
- Manufacturer fiber training
- Networking fundamentals training
Core competencies:
- Technical precision
- Crew leadership
- Customer communication
