Security Installation Technician Technician

Lake Mary, Florida Contract to Hire Aug 10, 2026
Security System Install Technician
Location:
Orlando, FL Duration: 6m Contract to hire Start:
August 17 (Possibly sooner) Start Times: 7am normally but initially after school hours. PR $24-33 SOW:
Initially, work will be within schools around the Orlando market. Installations and upgrades of security system.
Responsibilities:
- Perform device rough-in and trim-out for security and life safety systems
- Mount and install field devices such as cameras, access control hardware, panels, and sensors
- Install and terminate low-voltage cabling, including Cat6, composite, and fiber (as applicable)
- Read and interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, and scopes of work
- Perform basic system testing, signal verification, and troubleshooting
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and complies with NEC and local codes
- Maintain accurate documentation, including redlines and daily work updates
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite
- Follow all safety protocols including PPE and equipment usage
- Ability to independently install and terminate structured cabling systems
- Understanding of grounding and bonding requirements
- Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools
- Experience using cable testers, tone generators, and multimeters
- Ability to operate ladders, lifts, and jobsite equipment safely
- Direct hands-on experience installing access control systems is required, including door hardware, readers, controllers, and device wiring
- Ability to identify and resolve basic wiring and signal issues
- Strong understanding of jobsite safety practices and OSHA standards
Requirements and Skillset:
- Ability to obtain a JLA Badge for work within Florida schools.
- 3+ Years of low-voltage security or electrical installation
- Experience with conduit installation and structured cabling systems
- Experience installing access control systems is required, including door hardware, readers, controllers, and device wiring
- Ability to work on active construction sites
