Job Title:
Structural Welder $30-37/hr, + $125 per diem (Launch Hardware) – Multiple Shifts
This role focuses on welding and fabricating launch hardware components used in advanced aerospace applications. You will perform high-precision structural and pipe welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum using multiple welding processes, while interpreting engineering drawings and collaborating closely with the welding team to ensure high-quality, code-compliant weldments.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural and pipe welding using flux cored arc welding (FCAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum structural shapes, tubing, and piping.
- Cut, trim, fit, and fabricate weldments to precise dimensions for building and assembling launch hardware using standard tools, materials, and practices of the welding trade.
- Collaborate with the lead welder and team members to assess and apply the proper weld procedures, materials, and filler rod sizes for each project.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to plan welding operations, including situations where procedural information is limited or unavailable.
- Apply advanced fitting techniques to prepare tube and pipe for welding, including cutting, grinding, and fabrication to meet engineering requirements.
- Ensure all welds and assemblies meet applicable welding codes and standards, maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts aimed at enhancing operations, reducing turnaround times, and streamlining work processes.
- Work cooperatively with the broader fabrication and weld team to support efficient and effective production of launch hardware.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support an organized, safe, and productive work environment.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- At least 1 year of experience welding in a manufacturing environment using flux cored arc welding (FCAW) or gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) on SCH 10 pipe.
- Hands-on experience with FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and GTAW welding processes.
- Ability to weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum structural shapes, tubing, and piping.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Skill in cutting, trimming, fitting, and fabricating weldments to precise dimensions.
- Strong understanding of welding safety practices and proper use of welding tools and equipment.
