Track Inspector
As a Track Inspector, you will be a vital part of Brightline's Maintenance Team. This role is responsible for maintaining Brightline's track, structures, stations, and facilities infrastructure, with additional responsibilities for inspecting track and establishing on-track protection when working on or about the tracks. Must have the following:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the maintenance, construction, or railroad industries required. Experience operating light-duty construction equipment highly desired. CFR 49 Part 213 Subpart A-F qualified to inspect, maintain, and restore track
Pay range - $30.00 - $33.00 an hour
Your Role [Essential Functions]:
- Maintenance Operations:
Perform maintenance operations, including but not limited to regular track maintenance, track inspection, landscaping, brush cutting, painting, pressure washing, window washing, and fence repairs. - Track Protection:
Establish track protection within assigned areas according to the company's operating rules and in compliance with federal law. - Construction Projects:
Complete minor construction projects, including stations and facility repairs, corridor civil improvements, and railroad grade crossing repairs. - Equipment Operation:
Safely operating motorized equipment like lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, pressure washers, and drills. Maintain tools and equipment in good condition - Material Handling:
Transport, load, and unload material and equipment - Safety Compliance:
Work safely and adhere to applicable railroad rules and regulations. Report any hazards or injuries and take immediate corrective action - Collaboration:
Collaborate with other maintenance technicians to perform quality work in an efficient manner - Training:
Conduct safety meetings and training sessions for railroad teammates on proper procedures of working around active tracks and maintenance procedures. - Incident Response:
Respond to third-party incidents and severe weather events and lead infrastructure clean-up activities.
Additional Duties:
- Follow the manager's instructions, executing and delegating the planned work.
- Perform additional construction and maintenance support duties as required.
- Monitor and review all Brightline communication channels, including our company intranet, bConnected, during work hours to ensure all company and department communications and notifications are promptly reviewed.

Experience & Qualifications Required
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required, some college or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the maintenance, construction, or railroad industries required. Experience operating light-duty construction equipment highly desired
- CFR 49 Part 213 Subpart A-F qualified to inspect, maintain, and restore track
- General knowledge of construction and maintenance fields, including landscaping, facility operations, and maintenance, civil repairs, painting, basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical
- Experience working around railroads or railroad operations and an understanding of rail engineering, and/or familiarity with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) safety rules and regulations preferred.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledgeable about railway systems, track structures, and maintenance procedures. Skilled in operating motorized equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, pressure washers, and drills.
- Proficient in construction and maintenance fields, including landscaping, facility operations, civil repairs, painting, basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
- Strong focus on safety and attention to detail to consistently deliver high-quality work.
- Well-versed in safety protocols and regulations related to maintenance operations. Wear personal protective equipment when required and necessary
- Effective communicator adept at establishing rapport across all organizational levels, fostering productive relationships crucial for operational success.
- Must be able and willing to work any shift or on weekends and holidays based on operational needs as necessary.
- Good physical condition to handle the demands of the job, which may include working in various weather conditions and performing manual tasks. Capable of operating heavy machinery, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and bending for extended periods, frequently lifting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
- Effective in working with other maintenance technicians and following managerial instructions.
