Field Service Technician - Medical Equipment

Job Description

The Device Technician supports the installation and deployment of plasma collection devices across multiple centers as part of a dedicated project team. This role serves as an onsite technical resource during device installations and provides post-implementation support to help ensure devices are installed correctly, validated, and ready for use with minimal disruption to center operations. The Device Technician prepares equipment, supports installation activities, troubleshoots technical issues, validates device readiness, and assists center personnel throughout the installation process in a regulated healthcare environment.

This position requires extensive travel and hands‑on technical work but does not include responsibility for ongoing preventive maintenance programs or long‑term device management activities.

Responsibilities
  • Support installation activities for plasma collection devices at assigned plasma centers, including equipment preparation, setup, installation verification, and operational readiness tasks.
  • Coordinate with vendors, project team members, and center staff to ensure devices are installed, configured, and operational in accordance with approved procedures and standards.
  • Perform installation verification, operational qualification activities, functional testing, and device readiness checks to support successful center readiness.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues encountered during installation activities and elevate technical concerns to appropriate support resources when required.
  • Provide onsite technical support during implementation, stabilization, and immediate post-installation activities to support center operations and business continuity.
  • Document activities, installation results, troubleshooting efforts, and equipment status in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate records for assigned projects.
  • Communicate project status, risks, issues, and opportunities to project leadership in a clear and timely manner.
  • Assist with equipment logistics activities, including device preparation, inventory verification, packing, shipping, storage, and vendor return processes.
  • Provide basic operational guidance and technical instruction to center personnel regarding deployed equipment and approved operating procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, quality requirements, regulatory expectations, and applicable standard operating procedures.
  • Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a technical support, equipment installation, field service, healthcare, medical device, manufacturing, or related environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting technical equipment and resolving operational issues.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude, with the ability to work hands‑on with equipment.
  • Ability to accurately document technical activities and maintain detailed records in accordance with procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with vendors, project teams, and center staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, and other standard business software.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.
  • Hands‑on experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting technical equipment in a regulated healthcare, medical device, manufacturing, or laboratory environment.
  • Experience performing equipment installation and startup support, operational and functional testing, and technical problem‑solving.
  • Ability to follow and document work in accordance with standard operating procedures and quality requirements.
