About Custom Truck One Source (CTOS)

Custom Truck One Source (CTOS) is a 30+ year industry leader with 40+ locations, 2,600 employees, and a 10,000+ unit fleet serving utility, telecom, rail, and construction markets.

A day in this role

You arrive to a well-equipped shop and open a work order on a Class 8 truck throwing intermittent codes. You connect advanced diagnostic software, isolate a 24V wiring fault, and restore a clean signal to the ECM. Next up: rebuilding a steer axle hub and adjusting the braking system on a vocational chassis. After lunch, you pull an EGR cooler for inspection, verify valve operation, and document an emissions repair.

You finish the day installing a PTO gearbox and confirming hydraulic pump output to a winch system—leaving the unit ready for service.

What you’ll work on
  • Advanced diagnostics:
Use professional-grade software and tools to pinpoint mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic faults.
  • Chassis & powertrain:
Inspect, repair, and rebuild steering, suspension, braking, and related drivetrain components.
  • Emissions systems:
Service EGR systems end to end—coolers, valves, and associated hardware.
  • PTO & hydraulics:
Install, troubleshoot, and repair PTO gearboxes; maintain pumps, valves, cylinders, and winches.
  • Electrical:
Read schematics to diagnose and repair complex 12V/24V circuits, harnesses, starting/charging systems, and control modules.
What you bring
  • A valid driver’s license (CDL is a strong plus).
  • Hands-on experience as a Diesel Mechanic on Class 6, 7, or 8 heavy trucks.
  • High mechanical aptitude with a strong safety-and-compliance mindset.
  • Graduates of vocational/technical programs and military veterans with specialized mechanical training are encouraged to apply.
What you’ll get

CTOS offers competitive pay based on skills and experience, paid vacation, sick, and holidays, 401k match, healthcare, dental, vison, prescription insurance, uniforms, boot allowance, ongoing training and more.

Your toolkit and strengths
  • Heavy equipment repair expertise
  • Hydraulic system experience
  • Light-vehicle diesel engine know-how
  • Diesel and heavy equipment systems knowledge
  • Electrical systems and diagnostics for heavy equipment
  • PTO and auxiliary systems competency
  • Crane and lifting equipment systems familiarity
  • Aerial and utility equipment systems understanding
  • DOT and equipment inspection compliance
