CAD Designer​/Application Engineer - Orlando, FL

Specialized Fire & Security, Inc. is growing our Engineering group in Orlando and looking for an experienced fire alarm designer who understands Siemens’ equipment. You'll turn contract documents and Sales proposals into accurate shop drawings and collateral documentation that our field crews and customers use every day. You'll work in the Orlando FL office as part of our multi-office Engineering Team

What you'll do

• Work with Engineering supervisors to plan and produce shop drawings, including floor plans, riser diagrams, and control equipment and panel diagrams that match the project scope.

• Review contract drawings, specifications, and equipment data sheets to make sure every submittal reflects what was sold and what the code requires.

• Use AutoCAD automation (LISP, scripts, blocks, and templates) to speed up output and keep drawings consistent.

• Prepare collateral documentation for field staff, such as device schedules, wiring details, sequence of operations, and installation references.

• Record labor hours by project in our accounting software.

• Join periodic site visits, meetings, and surveys.

• Be available for overtime when project deadlines require it.

Required

• 3+ years of AutoCAD experience producing fire alarm or life-safety shop drawings.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with fire alarm and other life-safety electronics.

• Working knowledge of Siemens fire alarm equipment.

• NICET Level II or higher in Fire Alarm Systems.

• Ability to read and interpret contract drawings, specifications, codes, and equipment data & installation sheets.

• An understanding of electricity and electronics, including circuits, power supplies, and battery calculations.

• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

• Strong computer and organizational skills, and the ability to manage several assignments independently.

• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Strongly preferred

• Experience as a fire alarm field technician, including installation, programming, and commissioning.

• Familiarity with NFPA 72 and the Florida Fire Prevention Code.

• Experience with large-scale or networked Siemens systems and related equipment. Candidates with competitive manufacturer knowledge and experience will be considered.

• Bluebeam Revu experience for markups and submittal review.
