The OSP Splicing Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Orlando, FL, responsible for performing fiber optic splicing and related outside plant activities. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and splicing fiber optic cables, testing and troubleshooting fiber links, and documenting all work performed according to company and industry standards. The technician will read and interpret technical drawings and splice diagrams, organize and maintain cable vaults and enclosures, and ensure accurate labeling and record-keeping.

The role involves working with hand tools and test equipment in various outdoor environments, adhering strictly to safety procedures and quality guidelines. The technician will collaborate with project managers and other field staff to meet timelines, support network turn-up, and respond to service and maintenance requirements.

• Cable handling skills, including working with cables and structured cabling in outside plant environments.
• Cabling installation experience, with a focus on pulling, routing, and organizing cabling in the field.
• Basic understanding of electricity and low-voltage systems relevant to fiber and network infrastructure.
• Proficiency with hand tools commonly used in splicing, cabling, and field installation work.
• Experience with fiber optic splicing, testing (OTDR, power meter), and troubleshooting is strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, splice schematics, and construction plans.
• Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and capability to work in outdoor and physically demanding conditions.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a field team.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
• Prior experience in telecommunications or outside plant construction and a high school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in fiber optics are a plus.
