Fandango is seeking a Senior Roku Software Engineer to join our APEX Video Player team. In this role you will play a key part in designing, building, and maintaining our Roku video playback technologies, including ownership of our Video Player SDK. You’ll collaborate closely with experienced engineers across platforms to deliver reliable, high‑quality streaming experiences to millions of users.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain a Roku Video Player SDK using BrightScript, Scene Graph, and Roku platform tools
- Lead and contribute to the architecture of a scalable, cross‑platform video playback solution
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues across the video playback pipeline
- Write clean, performant, and maintainable code following best engineering practices
- Participate in and lead code reviews, providing technical guidance and mentorship
- Partner with QA and operations teams to reproduce, diagnose, and resolve production issues
- Create and maintain technical documentation to support team knowledge sharing and long‑term maintainability
- Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in streaming media and playback technologies
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years of professional Roku software development experience
- Strong proficiency in BrightScript and Scene Graph
- Hands‑on experience implementing DASH and/or HLS streaming on Roku
- Solid understanding of video playback concepts, streaming protocols, and performance optimization
- Experience with web, mobile, or other streaming platforms is a plus
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment
Fully Remote:
This role has been designated as fully remote, meaning it is expected to be performed from a non‑VERSANT worksite, typically an employee’s residence. Occasional travel is required and can range from within the country (typical, various times of the year) to global (not typical but still possible).
