Autonomy​/AI Software and Systems Architect Senior

Lockheed Martin’s Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) is seeking an individual with strong software engineering skills in Python, C++, and STAR.OS knowledge to support the Applied AI Mission Management team and the Cogniverse Mission Management product portfolio.

The role centers on developing simulation environments using STAR.OS and involves every phase of the software/system development lifecycle: requirements generation, system design, software design, implementation, testing, and integration. Activities range from low‑TRL research, proof of concepts, rapid prototyping, to transition prototype technologies to production.

• Develop STAR.OS simulation environments.
• Generate requirements, design systems and software, and oversee implementation, testing, and integration.
• Conduct low‑TRL research, proof of concepts, rapid prototyping, and transition prototypes to production.
• Apply generative AI and reinforcement learning techniques to create high‑fidelity training and simulation environments.
• Work with AI‑first systems, data pipelines, and mission/battle management solutions in DoD domains.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience with 5 years professional experience; or 3 years experience with a related master’s degree.
• Strong expertise in Python and modern C++ programming.
• Experience in system software engineering, deploying AI‑first systems, AI/ML development, data curation, and data pipelines.
• Experience building and deploying software for mission systems, mission management, and/or battle management in the DoD domain.

• Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Experience with defense industry operations analysis, multi‑domain simulation, or related systems‑of‑systems analyses.
• Experience with multiple software architectures (monolithic, SOA, microservices).
• Experience transitioning prototype technologies to production.
• Experience with Dev Ops tools:
  Docker, Git (Git Lab, Git Hub), CI, and CD.
• Experience with SW orchestration (Kubernetes) and distributed systems.
• Experience with hardware acceleration (GPUs, NPUs, etc.).
• Experience with high‑performance computing.
• Experience developing applications on Linux.
• Experience with Unreal Engine.
• Strong self‑motivation, time‑management, and interpersonal skills.

This position requires a government security clearance. The employee must be a U.S. citizen. Clearance level:
Secret.

4×10‑hour day schedule with 3 days off per week. Part‑time remote telework is part of the schedule, with the remainder performed at a Lockheed Martin facility.

Annual base salary range (varies by location): $104,900–$184,920 for select states, and $120,600–$209,070 in major metropolitan areas. The position is incentive‑plan eligible.
