Senior Software Engineer (Machine Learning)

Location:

Orlando, FL (Hybrid - 4 days onsite)

Duration: 9-12 month contract (with potential for extension or conversion to full time hire)

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-impact engineering team focused on building scalable machine learning and computer vision solutions within a global, distributed environment.

This role will contribute to the development of real-time, production-grade ML systems, supporting applications that operate at scale across both edge and cloud environments. You will work across the full lifecycle of machine learning systems-from model development and training to deployment, monitoring, and optimization-while integrating these systems into robust, production-ready services.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, build, and maintain machine learning pipelines including data ingestion, model training, evaluation, and deployment

* Develop and optimize real-time or streaming data pipelines for high-throughput systems

* Deploy and support computer vision models in scalable production environments

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ML models into distributed software systems

* Build and maintain model monitoring, evaluation, and performance optimization frameworks

* Design systems that are scalable, observable, and resilient in cloud-based environments

* Contribute to event-driven architectures and downstream data integration

* Optimize system performance across the full stack, including compute, memory, and data processing layers

* Participate in code reviews, testing, and ongoing system enhancements

Required Qualifications

* 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on machine learning systems or data-intensive applications

* Strong programming experience in Python, with hands-on use of ML frameworks such as Py Torch

* Experience building and deploying distributed, production ML systems

* Proven experience with real-time or streaming data pipelines

* Strong understanding of event-driven architecture and system design for scalability and reliability

* Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

* Hands-on experience deploying ML models in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, including Sage Maker)

* Experience with messaging/streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Redis

* Familiarity with Linux/Ubuntu environments for development and deployment

* Understanding of system observability, monitoring, and performance tuning

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working with computer vision models (e.g., object detection, segmentation, classification)

* Familiarity with modern CV architectures and frameworks (e.g., YOLO, SAM, VLMs or similar)

* Experience building MLOps pipelines and automating the ML lifecycle

* Experience with high-throughput or low-latency systems

* Experience handling sensitive or regulated data environments

* Additional experience with Java-based services
