Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Show Systems Programmer is a key technical role at Memoir Agency LLC (“Memoir”), responsible for developing and implementing the software systems that drive Memoir’s shows and programmed activations. This position is primarily focused on hands‑on programming within real‑time media, show control, and interactive technology platforms.

Working within the system architecture established by the Show Systems Designer, the Show Systems Programmer writes, tests, commissions, and documents the code that enables dynamic live shows, self‑contained programmed activations, and immersive technical environments. The majority of this role’s time is spent actively building and refining software systems to ensure stable operation, scalability, and long‑term maintainability across seasons.

This role will also participate in on‑site commissioning and deployment of technical systems, supporting integration, troubleshooting, and final programming adjustments in live production environments.

The ideal candidate will feel comfortable taking high‑level creative concepts and transforming them into technical reality through iterative design processes including multiple stakeholders.

Core Software Development
  • Programs show behaviors for special activations across both off‑the‑shell and custom technical systems using the designated show stack.
  • Creates custom controlled interactive installations within Touch Designer or other similar creative engines.
  • Develops and implements software within selected real‑time media and show control environments, including specialized interactive and visual programming platforms.
  • Collaborates with the Show Systems Designer to ensure programming aligns with system architecture, creative intent, and operational requirements.
  • Supports iterative programming cycles, incorporating feedback from creative, production, and operations stakeholders.
  • Manages assigned projects from concept through installation to ensure key programming goals and deliverables are met throughout the project lifecycle.
Testing & Validation
  • Conducts in‑house testing, simulation, and pre‑production proof‑of‑concept validation prior to site deployment.
  • Participates in technical quality control processes to ensure system reliability and performance readiness.
On‑Site Commissioning & Integration
  • Participates in on‑site commissioning and integration of show systems at project locations.
  • Troubleshoots and refines programming in live production environments to ensure stability under run‑of‑show conditions.
Documentation & Lifecycle Management
  • Maintains clean project architecture throughout the project lifecycle, including version control, configuration documentation, and structured handoff materials.
  • Ensures documentation and handoff deliverables are completed in step with project deadlines and long‑term operational goals.
  • Provides troubleshooting support for run‑of‑show operations during commissioning, previews, and peak run periods.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • 3–8+ years of professional experience in show programming, interactive systems development, or creative technology implementation.
  • Experience with custom show control frameworks or lighting installations, especially those driven by Touch Designer, Ableton, Mad Mapper, and other similar programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, deploy, and maintain stable, production‑ready installations or live show systems.
  • Strong hands‑on programming experience within real‑time media, interactive, or show control software environments.
  • Working knowledge of core control and integration protocols, including OSC, MIDI, DMX/Art‑Net/sACN, timecode, and networking fundamentals.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical systems under fast‑paced commissioning and production conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting on‑site commissioning, integration, and run‑of‑show readiness for live productions or activations.
  • Familiarity working across hybrid hardware/software environments, including custom fixtures, media systems, and interactive inputs.
  • Ability to contribute to broader system architecture and technical planning alongside design leadership.
  • Interest in immersive storytelling and…
