Roadside Assistance Technician​/Tow Driver

Job Overview

AAA The Auto Club Group (ACG) is looking for a Roadside Assistance Technician to join our Emergency Roadside Assistance team. In this role you will provide peace of mind to members by identifying and navigating vehicle problems, delivering services to get them safely back on the road and to their daily lives.

• Operate a full‑size or mini service truck, tow truck, or other service equipment to assist members, employees and other motorists.
• Use GPS and maps to locate member breakdown locations.
• Provide service functions such as delivering fuel, testing and replacing batteries, jump‑starting, lock‑out service and changing/inflating flat tires.
• Arrange or tow a member’s vehicle when it cannot be started or is unsafe to drive.
• Ensure 100% member satisfaction by delivering excellent customer service.
• Offer value through on‑the‑go tow or battery tests/sales.
• Provide support at special events such as parades, travel shows, car care or public relations events.

• Hourly starting rate $21.50 (Florida) with potential to exceed based on experience.
• Overtime at time and a half wage.
• Shift premiums: 5% for hours 5pm‑11pm; 10% for hours 11pm‑5am.
• $1,000 sign‑on bonus (split payout at 90 and 180 days; new applicants only).

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license (state license with minimal driving infractions). Illinois residents must hold a valid Illinois C‑Non CDL license.
• Age 21 or older.
• Experience using tablets or electronic devices to update calls, review policies, document safety records and complete other duties.
• Strong customer‑service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with members.
• Ability to lift up to 75pounds.
• Successful completion of drug screening, MVR, criminal background check and DOT health screenings (pre‑employment and ongoing).

• Experience servicing vehicles: fueling, battery testing/replacement, jump‑starting, lock‑out service and flat‑tire changes/inflation.
• Prior tow truck driver or roadside service experience.
• Ability to safely operate a wheel lift, flatbed, dolly towing equipment and a full‑size or mini service vehicle.
• Commercial driving experience.

The role is primarily outdoors; you will spend up to 95% of your time providing roadside service and will be exposed to road hazards and temperature extremes. Less than 5% of your time will be in a temperature‑controlled office setting.
