Job Description Meter Reader IGeneral Functions
- Performs routine entry‑level field work including reading water and reclaimed water meters.
- Identifies and reports unauthorized connections, meter malfunctions, and repair or replacement needs.
- Uploads daily readings by docking or linking the handheld device to transmit data.
- Drives to and from assigned work areas, adhering to traffic and safety laws.
- Maintains vehicle by tracking mileage, cleaning the vehicle, refueling, and reporting any damage.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
General Functions
- Performs routine and non‑routine semi‑skilled field work including reading water, reclaimed water, and specialty meters.
- Collects accurate monthly readings to ensure accurate billing and avoid estimated bills.
- Identifies and reports unauthorized connections, meter malfunctions, and repair or replacement needs.
- Uploads daily readings by docking or linking the handheld device to transmit data.
- Drives to and from assigned routes, adhering to traffic and safety laws.
- Maintains vehicle by tracking mileage, cleaning the vehicle, refueling, and reporting any damage.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Valid Florida Driver's License.
- One (1) year of experience in meter reading, or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Ability to work outside in inclement weather.
- 10 paid holidays and 2 floating holidays annually.
