Job Summary:The Assistant Warehouse Manager serves as the primary liaison between warehouse leadership and warehouse associates, ensuring efficient day-to-day warehouse operations. This hands‑on leadership role is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound activities, supervising warehouse staff and drivers, maintaining inventory accuracy, and promoting a safe, productive work environment. The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish and possesses strong leadership skills within a warehouse or distribution setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan inbound and outbound schedules, shipping activity, and driver assignments to meet operational goals
- Determine staffing requirements and assign personnel based on workload and shipping priorities
- Train, coach, and supervise warehouse associates and drivers, including conducting performance evaluations and ride‑alongs
- Monitor productivity, inventory accuracy, and operational performance by employee, department, and function
- Provide guidance on proper storage, handling, shipping methods, and equipment usage
- Ensure compliance with warehouse safety procedures and OSHA standards
- Address employee concerns and assist in resolving workplace issues and conflicts
- Conduct regular warehouse floor inspections to monitor workflow, housekeeping, and safety compliance
- Serve as the primary communication link between warehouse leadership and warehouse associates
- Assist with warehouse operations as needed to meet deadlines or cover staffing shortages
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Perform additional operational duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- 2–4 years of warehouse or distribution experience, including at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory role
- Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), inventory control, and shipping/receiving operations
- Ability to read and interpret pick tickets, bills of lading, and shipping documentation
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem‑solving skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and warehouse management software
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to motivate, coach, and resolve employee conflicts
- Truck driving training experience
- Ability to meet requirements to operate a 26‑foot box truck as needed
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work variable hours when business demands require
- Knowledge of OSHA warehouse safety standards
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
- Experience operating or supervising the operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment
- Regularly lift, move, and handle inventory in a warehouse environment
- Ability to work around moving equipment and machinery
- Comfortable working in environments with noise, dust, or fumes while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)
