Role Description The Certified Medical Assistant role at Halifax Health is a full-time, on-site position based in Ormond Beach, FL. This role supports physicians and advanced practice professionals by preparing exam rooms, taking vital signs, documenting patient histories, and assisting with procedures. Daily responsibilities include managing patient flow, coordinating appointments, updating electronic medical records, and handling basic clinical tasks such as injections, EKGs, and specimen collection as permitted by certification and policy.

The Certified Medical Assistant also provides patient education, ensures accurate and confidential recordkeeping, and collaborates with nursing and administrative staff to maintain a safe, efficient care environment. Strong attention to detail, a commitment to patient-centered care, and adherence to infection control and safety protocols are essential.

Qualifications

• Clinical support skills, including Medical Assisting and Patient Care, with the ability to assist providers, perform basic clinical procedures, and support patient comfort and safety.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology to accurately communicate clinical information and document patient encounters.
• Experience in a Medical Office setting, including appointment scheduling, patient intake, and coordination with clinical and administrative teams.
• Proficiency in managing Medical Records, especially electronic health records (EHR), ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with regulations.
• Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) from an accredited program.
• Basic life support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain within required time frame.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, move between exam rooms, and perform tasks that may require lifting or positioning patients, in line with safety guidelines.
• Previous experience in a hospital or outpatient clinic setting is preferred but not required.
