Your Role And Responsibilities (Mandatory)Summary:
Operate or tend plastic molding machines, such as compression or injection molding machines, to mold, form, or cast thermoplastic materials to specified shape.
- Must meet or exceed company requirements for safety.
- Must complete all required mandatory Safety, OSHA, and ISO 9001 training (see attached list).
- Set controls and check the production machine before starting.
- Load raw materials.
- Operate machines in accordance with safety requirements.
- Maintain consistent operation of output.
- Check the quality of products and take part in quality improvement activities.
- Report defects.
- Keep production records and quality assurance data.
- Fill mold with mixed material or apply material to mold to specified thickness.
- Mold parts or products using vibrator, handpress, or casting equipment and tap or tilt mold to ensure uniformity.
- Operate and adjust controls of heating equipment to melt material or to cure, dry or bake filled molds according to specifications.
- Open mold and remove finished products.
- Assemble, insert cores and fittings using hand tools.
- Brush or spray surface of mold with parting agent or insert paper to ensure smoothness and prevent sticking or seepage.
- Measure and cut product to specified dimensions, using measuring and cutting instruments.
- Fasten metal inserts and bolts using hand tools and power tools.
- Clean and trim products or parts.
- Clean and lubricate mold and mold parts.
- Remove product from mold or conveyor, and clean and reload mold.
- Position mold frame to correct alignment and tubs containing mixture on top of mold to facilitate loading of molds.
- Examine molded product for surface defects, such as dents, bubbles, thin areas, and cracks.
- Fill tubs, molds, or cavities of machine with plastic material in solid or liquid form prior to activating machine.
- Break seals that hold plastic product in molds, using hand tool, and remove product from mold.
- Work overtime as scheduled.
- Report defects in molds to supervisor.
- Trim flashing from product.
- Stack molded parts in boxes or on conveyor for subsequent processing.
- Run multiple machines.
- All other duties as assigned.

Basic understanding of computer based machine controls. Must have basic manufacturing/quality knowledge and be able to use simple measuring devices.
Education and/or ExperienceHigh school graduate or GED required. Previous manufacturing experience not required but desirable.
Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Basic English communication skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) to be able to communicate and discuss with English speaking internal and external customers.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deal with a problem involving a few concrete variables. The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order. Problem Sensitivity – The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
