Machine Operator - Extrusion

Production Supervisor Summary

Sets up and operates Extrusion machines and manufacturing processes under moderate supervision. Performs other assembly and fabrication operations as assigned.

• Set up and operate extrusion machines and manufacturing processes.
• Apply specialized manufacturing and quality knowledge.
• Make press and tooling adjustments as instructed by floor management.
• Use dispatch lists as directed by floor management.
• Maintain flexibility and work effectively as part of a team.
• Participate in cross‑training and assist co‑workers with their cross‑training.
• Meet or exceed company safety requirements and complete all required safety/skills training.
• Read work instructions to determine job specifications, machine adjustments, and material requirements.
• Produce a quality product in accordance with the quality plans and work instructions.
• Document work completion using the manufacturing system.
• Make intermediate adjustments to extrusion equipment and tooling to adhere to established specifications.
• Be aware of procedures for handling hazardous materials and recognize HAZMAT conditions.
• Use dial calipers, snap gauges, or micrometers.
• Monitor work to ensure machines/equipment are not malfunctioning, assist with minor repairs, and report major malfunctions promptly.
• Stack, mark, pack, and transport finished work pieces.
• Work overtime as scheduled when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Use common machine operation tools.

High school graduate or GED preferred but not required. Minimum six months related experience in machine set‑up/operation and/or equivalent training is preferred.

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules and instructions.

• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.

• Follow written, oral or diagrammed instructions.
• Deal with problems involving concrete variables.

Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. Stand, walk, sit, communicate, and occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. Frequently lift up to 35 pounds. Visual abilities include close vision, depth perception, and adjusting focus.

Work near moving mechanical parts, in outside air, and in wet or humid conditions. May be exposed to toxic or non‑toxic fumes, chemicals, airborne particles, vibration, heat, and loud noise requiring hearing protection.
