Position

Purpose:

Provide leadership and coordination for the implementation and maintenance of District-wide and building-specific initiatives for all dimensions of student character, behavior, social-emotional safety, academic performance, and mental well-being. Assist mental health support teams, parents, principals, and all staff in supporting student needs in these areas.

Responsible To:
Elementary School Principal, Intermediate School Principal and Special Services Director

Job Summary:

* Develop and implement multiple tiers of support (MTSS) for mental health intervention in elementary schools.

* Provide direct services to students.

* Conduct individual group and student intervention services.

* Collaborate with elementary mental health and special education staff to provide conditions for student success in the face of adversity, as well as outside mental health professional consultants.

* System level data collection and analysis for social emotional well-being.

* Initiate and maintain parent/guardian communication pertaining to individual student needs.

* Implement best practice behavior management strategies across school system.

* Support students and staff in unique and unanticipated circumstances.

* Participant in district wide crisis team

* Execute appropriate behavior and attendance processes, such as restorative circles.

* Facilitate meetings with stakeholders as a representative of school, as needed and directed.

* Meet with parents (e.g., new to school, parent concerns).

* Assist in the creation of processes for communication within and outside the building.

* Assist in the direction of Student Assistance Team, site leadership team, etc.

* Work collaboratively with team members to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of elementary learners. Participate in regular PLC meetings as an active and engaged professional.

* Communicate frequently with parents, colleagues, students, and administrators through all available means of technology.

* Establish and maintain high standards for character growth.

* Actively participate in the District crisis team.

Qualifications:

* Current Minnesota License, issued through PELSB required.

* Demonstrated skillsets in the following areas required:

* Written and oral communication.

* Conflict resolution.

* Strategic leadership.

Leadership in difficult situations.

* Professional interpersonal relationships.

* Master's degree preferred

* Background in Character Counts!, PBIS, restorative practices, Responsive Classroom, MTSS, and/or systems intervention preferred.

* Knowledge of school district policies and procedures.

* Demonstrated ability to utilize critical thinking in meaningful discourse professional

conversations.

* Demonstrated experience in collaboration and problem-solving.

* Experience with curriculum and assessment design and data management preferred.

* Understanding and value of the role of parent involvement and the ability to collaborate

with parents.

* Ability to effectively use technology.

Bargaining Group and Level: Orono Education Association/Teachers

COMPENSATION

Full Year, Full Time

BA Step 1 ($51,256) to EdS Step 20 ($110,239)
