Description:

1.0 FTE Special Education Teacher - ABS ORONO HIGH SCHOOL

Job Summary:

* Work collaboratively with special services team members to support the academic, character, social and emotional growth of learners.

* Collaborate with IEP team members to design, coordinate, and deliver a rigorous and appropriate education for students with disabilities.

* Participate in regular PLC meetings as an active and engaged professional.

* Conduct and maintain due process paperwork according to District, State, and Federal guidelines.

* Communicate frequently with parents, colleagues, students, and administrators through all available means of technology.

* Establish and maintain high standards for the educational experience of students.

Qualifications:

* Current Minnesota Teaching License required - MN Special Education License required.

* High level of Special Education due process expertise required.

* Experiene with with instructing students in Secondary Transition areas (employment, post-secondary and independent living skills)

* Demonstrate ability to facilitate meaningful discourse in IEP meetings.

* Experience working directly with students in classroom/resource room setting preferred.

* Effective classroom management skills.

* Effective oral and written communication skills.

* Demonstrated experience in collaboration and problem-solving.

* Experience with curriculum, assessment, and accommodation design.

* Understanding of the role of parent involvement and the ability to collaborate with parents.

* Ability to use technology as an instructional tool.

* Workbased Learning License preferred.

Bargaining Group and Level: Orono Education Association/Teachers

COMPENSATION

BA Step 1 ($49,266) to EdS Step 20 ($105,958)
