DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Department of Physical Sciences is committed to excellence in lower division education for both majors and non-majors, with an emphasis on a strong laboratory program. Our faculty and staff work closely together to support one another and to ensure the success of our students. Our department includes the areas of astronomy, chemistry, environmental science, geology, geography, physics, and meteorology.

We are seeking a talented chemistry educator who shares our excitement for teaching and learning to join our faculty. Join us in our new state-of-the-art science building, which includes  eight chemistry laboratory rooms as well as offering exceptional opportunities for teaching, outreach, and student engagement. There are also opportunities to teach at the satellite campuses in Glenn County and Chico.  The new hire is expected to teach lecture and laboratory courses from preparatory through general chemistry.

The full-time college instructor is responsible for effective performance in the following areas:

A. General Scope of Responsibilities

* Instructor requires and evaluates levels of student effort sufficient to develop mastery of the subject or skills in the course.

* Instructor grades and returns student work, assignments and tests in a reasonable period of time.

* Instructor makes effective use of teaching aids, instructional methods and materials required of students (e.g., texts, manuals, etc.).
