DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Butte College Department of Child Development and Education (CDE) is seeking a full-time instructor in the Early Childhood Education (Spanish) program, starting in the Fall Semester 2026. The CDE department offers certificates and degrees toward various career pathways and supports workforce competencies in the field of early childhood education. As both a transfer and career and technical education program, the department collaborates with the local CSU, other educational entities and local industry partners to maintain relevance and currency in curriculum and program offerings.

Additionally, the CDE's on-campus Child Development Center serves as a high quality, NAEYC-accredited student laboratory program.  

The successful candidate will be bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English and will provide classroom and lab instruction in Spanish and English for child development and early childhood education courses. The Department philosophy is grounded in developmentally appropriate teaching practices; authentic observation- and assessment-based approaches; curriculum planning; and reflective practice with children, families, and communities. POSITION DUTIES:

Teach courses in the Early Childhood Education Program (ECE). This instructor will teach from the full list of ECE programs at Butte College, with a primary emphasis on the department's courses offered in Spanish.

The full-time college instructor is responsible for effective performance in the following areas:

* Instructor makes effective use of teaching aids, instructional methods and materials required of students (e.g., texts, manuals, etc.).
