Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) is the premiere cognitive-behavioral program for criminal justice offenders. MRT addresses beliefs and reasoning. It is a systematic, step-by-step group counseling treatment approach for treatment-resistant clients. The program is designed to alter how clients think and make judgments about what is right and wrong. The MRT system approaches the problem of treating resistant populations as a problem of low levels of moral reasoning.
JobExpectations + Essential Functions
- Responsible for participant’s intake assessment, orientation
- Effectively communicates the program rules, regulations, requirements, and treatment plans.
- Provides face-to-face services to participants.
- Facilitate classes inside of the jail as well as classrooms outside of the locked facility.
- Develop and monitor the participants' progress through all phases of the program.
- Make appropriate referrals to outside agencies as necessary.
- Maintain progress notes in participant files.
- If applicable, administer required drug testing and/or breathalyzer testing.
- Advise Department of participants that are not in compliance with their program requirements.
- Maintain an auditable case file for all participants under their management.
Bachelor’s degree preferred or associated degree and 2 years' experience in a related field.
Some knowledge of community services and criminal justice preferred.
Other RequirementsMust successfully pass criminal background investigation, credit report and drug screening.
Minimum 21 years of age and pass the Department’s fingerprinting process for jail clearance.
Must complete MRT training course and pass certification test.
