The Lab Technician – Level II is responsible for performing advanced chemical and mechanical material testing while supporting quality assurance, production, and research and development initiatives. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, this role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory data and contributing to continuous improvement efforts. The Lab Technician – Level II operates with a high degree of independence and is responsible for validating test results, developing and refining laboratory procedures, and supporting cross‑functional teams in resolving material‑related challenges.
Collaborating closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering, this position also supports audits, equipment calibration, and process improvements while mentoring junior technicians and helping maintain compliance with applicable industry standards.

Primary Responsibilities- Performs advanced chemical and mechanical testing, including tensile testing, Charpy impact testing, Rockwell hardness testing
- Thermal conductivity analysis, and the use of analytical instruments such as ICP‑OES, Glow Discharge, and CHN analysis, all in accordance with established laboratory procedures
- The role is responsible for validating test data, preparing technical summaries, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results
- This position contributes to the development, revision, and continuous improvement of laboratory work instructions and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance
- The technician supports quality investigations and root cause analysis related to material performance and collaborates closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve material and process‑related issues
- In addition, the role supports internal audits, external reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining compliance with ASTM, ASME, and other applicable standards
- Responsibilities also include troubleshooting laboratory equipment, assisting with calibration and maintenance activities, and maintaining accurate, detailed, and compliant laboratory documentation
- The Lab Technician – Level II is expected to train and mentor Level I technicians in laboratory methods, procedures, and safety practices, and to lead or support laboratory projects as assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor
- Candidates must possess either a bachelor’s degree in physical sciences or engineering, or a high school diploma with at least three years of relevant laboratory experience
- A strong understanding of the mechanical and chemical properties of metals and materials is required
- Experience in laboratory testing methods and equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and laboratory data systems
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes such as ASME Section III and VIII, ISO 9001, ISO 17025, NQA‑1, and 10

21 - Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are essential
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment
- Candidates must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Be authorized to work in the United States
- Flexibility to work overtime or weekends as needed
- Preferred: experience with chemistry techniques such as titration, gravimetric analysis, and solution preparation
- Familiarity with mechanical testing methods including tensile, hardness, and impact testing
- Experience with advanced analytical instruments such as ICP‑OES, Glow Discharge, and CHN analysis is highly desirable
- A working knowledge of ASTM and ASME material testing standards
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical procedures
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or vertically integrated production environment also preferred
- Familiarity with quality systems and corrective action processes, including ISO and NQA‑1 standards
