Mechanical-Electro Assembler - 1st Shift - Pay up to $21-23/hr | Orrville, OH

Join a stable, growth-oriented manufacturing team as a Mechanical-Electro Assembler on 1st shift, where you will assemble and wire medium-sized sheet metal and related components. You will work from detailed instructions and prints, use a wide range of hand and power tools, and contribute to building high-quality equipment in a collaborative shop environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and wire medium-sized machinery constructed from sheet metal components, ensuring accuracy and quality throughout the build.
  • Assemble a variety of components such as legs, tanks, handles, vents, ducts, hoppers, drums, and other structural and mechanical parts.
  • Follow detailed work instructions and prints to correctly assemble parts using bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, glue, and other fasteners.
  • Operate hand drills, rotary air grinders, staplers, riveting machines, and other hand and power tools to complete assembly operations safely and efficiently.
  • Lay out, position, align, and fit components together to meet specifications and ensure proper fit and function.
  • Assemble parts by bolting, riveting, or bonding, verifying that all connections are secure and correctly installed.
  • Assist in or perform testing of completed products to confirm proper operation and identify any issues requiring adjustment or repair.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and assembly issues as they arise, using mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Use measurement tools and tape measures to verify dimensions and tolerances during the build process.
  • Work safely with and around an overhead crane to move and position parts and assemblies as needed.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team of approximately 5–6 assemblers to complete jobs efficiently and on schedule.
  • Access work areas using a step ladder and work in tight or confined spaces when necessary to complete assembly tasks.
  • Perform visual inspections of assemblies and components to ensure quality standards are met before final testing and shipment.

Essential

Skills:

  • Strong mechanical experience directly related to mechanical assembly, wiring, and equipment build, clearly demonstrated in prior work history.
  • Proven experience using a wide variety of hand tools and power tools in a production or assembly environment.
  • Proficiency with measurement tools, including tape measures, and the ability to read and verify measurements accurately.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and prints to assemble mechanical and electrical components correctly.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair issues that arise during assembly.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly, including working with sheet metal, fasteners, and structural components.
  • Comfort operating and working around an overhead crane for lifting and positioning parts and assemblies.
  • Ability to safely operate hand drills, rotary air grinders, staplers, riveting machines, and similar tools.
  • Capability to lift, bend, and perform physical tasks associated with assembly work for the duration of the shift.
  • Comfort working on a step ladder 5–6 steps high and in tight spaces as required by the job.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team of 5–6 people in a production shop environment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical assembly, including wiring and motors.
  • Attention to detail and strong inspection skills to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.

Additional Skills &

Qualifications:

  • Experience in production assembly environments involving mechanical and electrical components.
  • Familiarity with blueprints or assembly prints for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience with inspection of assembled products to verify functionality and quality.
  • Comfort working with tape measures and other measurement tools in a fast-paced shop setting.
  • Experience using overhead cranes and other material-handling equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with mechanical repair or rebuild work, including diagnosing and correcting issues in assemblies.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to team goals.
