The Orting School District seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Girls' Fastpitch Coach (Non-continuing) at Orting Middle School. Orting Middle School, a member of the Plateau League, is committed to providing excellence in all of its extra-curricular programs. The assistant coach supports the entire middle school fastpitch sports program.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Experience in coaching/participating in fastpitch
- Knowledge of volleyball techniques and strategies
- Be able to meet all W.I.A.A. requirements for the Washington State Coaching Standards
- Ability to communicate positively and effectively with students, parents, staff and community members
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills necessary to run a solid middle school program
- Successful experience working with teenage athletes
- Ability to motivate teens to reach their highest potential academically through sportsmanship
- Experience preferred
- Be high school graduate or have completed a graduation equivalency diploma (GED) program
- Be at least 19 years of age to be an assistant coach
- Current first aid and CPR training (from an approved OSD provider that includes return demonstration) or the ability to obtain
- Flexible schedule
- Must be available immediately after school – 2:25 pm
Location:
Orting Middle School. Work Year: 2026‑27. Middle School Spring Season: 09/01/2026‑10/22/2026. Work Start:
Middle school dismissal at 2:25 PM, Monday‑Thursday. Salary: 2025‑26 OXA Extra‑Curricular Salary Schedule Appendix A (will be paid at 2026‑27 rates).
Reports to:
Director of Athletics & Activities.
Benefits for coaching positions may vary. Employees who work 630 hours or more per year are eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long‑term disability, and employee assistance program. Additional benefits may be available.
