This position is eligible for "Supplement Basic Shift Premium" for 24/7 Facilities. Employees who are assigned to a facility that provides direct care to residents, patients, and/or clients whose duties are required to be performed on location will receive an additional one dollar ($1.00) per hour of supplemental basic shift premium for each hour of basic shift premium. This shift premium does not apply to overtime hours.
The supplemental basic shift premium shall expire on June 29, 2027.
* This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L. Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.
The work schedule will be Wednesday–Sunday from 10:00 PM–6:30 AM. This position is not eligible for telework.
As a Nursing Assistant Certified
, you'll assist in the delivery of nursing and nursing-related care to vulnerable Veterans in need of skilled nursing care. You'll have the ability to lend direction and a caring attitude to your patients. You will also assist and monitor assigned residents with activities of daily living based on current nursing standards of practice and with a heart for our mission.
of what you'll be doing includes:
- Actively participates in the resident’s care plan for the purpose of improving the life and maintaining the safety of each resident.
- Supports and encourages the resident’s involvement in decision making, regarding their daily activities.
- Accurately obtains and records vital signs and other resident data in electronic medical records, including documenting intake and output records. Completes charting daily.
- Observes and reports any changes in resident conditions to the Licensed Nurse. Documents any observations in the resident’s electronic medical record.
- Assists with therapies and treatment under the direction of licensed personnel RN.
- Performs daily living care activities including but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, toileting, eating, assisting with monitoring/feeding of meals and nourishments encouraging liquids. Provides care in accordance with the specific needs and requirements of each resident as outlined in the care plan.
- Assists residents with positioning, transferring, and ambulation.
- Assists with therapies and treatment under the direction of licensed personnel. Assist with range of motion exercises.
- Perform basic nursing procedures such as applying anti-embolism stockings, applying creams or lotions to intact skin, etc, under the direction of the licensed nurse.
- Monitors resident’s equipment for any equipment failures. Notifies maintenance in the event a work order is needed.
- Utilizes Hoyer lifts, oxygen tanks, scoop stretcher, or special equipment as needed to perform resident care.
- Responds to call lights, internal and external emergencies, and facility codes; remedies situations within scope and alerts RNs/LPNs of alarms sounding. Initiates basic lifesaving procedures.
- Cares for resident’s personal clothing, belongings, and equipment. Receives and distributes resident’s personal laundry which may include washing, drying, folding and operating laundry machines.
- Adheres to infection control procedures. Dispose of contaminated waste as appropriate. Maintains clean and sanitary spaces in residences rooms and common spaces.
- Clean bedpans, washbasins, urinals, commodes, beds nightstands, over bed tables. Performs additional cleaning chores as assigned.
- Assists in the transportation of residents to include resident belongings, supplies, pharmaceuticals, x-ray films, equipment and specimens to and from various locations; assists patients to and from vehicles; stays with patients at destination until someone receives them; transports and prepares for use medical gas tanks such as oxygen and…
