Overview
Licensed Practical Nurse 2 – Full-Time, Swing shift at Washington Soldiers Home in Orting, WA. Serve America s heroes with your medical expertise. The work schedule is Thursday through Monday, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm.
Duties- Prepare, carry out, evaluate, and revise treatment plans for individual residents based on personal observations and recommendations of physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and/or other nurses.
- Pass medications and administer, monitor, and record treatments; assess resident condition (including skin assessment); promote resident participation in recreational activities.
- Suction patients, administer oxygen, catheterization, irrigation; administer IV solutions, colostomy and trach care; maintain gastric feeding tubes and pumps.
- Process physician orders.
- Assist with routine rehabilitative and maintenance.

Required Qualifications
- Current Washington state practical nurse license or unencumbered practical nurse multistate license.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in English (read, write, and speak).
- Perform data entry; maintain confidentiality; provide a positive living environment for residents; follow written and verbal directions; document and report observed changes in patient condition and behavior.
- Washington state practical nurse license preferred.
- Long-term care experience and/or one year of experience as a practical nurse.
- Understanding of nursing and restorative care methods, hygiene and sanitation, recordkeeping, infection control, and client rights.
- Experience in assessing, evaluating, and participating in development of care plans.
- Pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check every two years per WDVA Policy 615.000.
- Comply with annual Tuberculin Screening per policy 670.000.
- Must wear PPE as required; pass medical evaluation, fit testing, and training; able to lift up to 60 lbs and reach 36 inches; regular attendance and ability to work as needed.
- Maintain a valid practical nursing license from the State of Washington Department of Health.
- Travel may be required; valid unrestricted driver s license and vehicle insurance if driving on state business.
