Job Description
Machine Specialist (2nd and 3rd shifts) responsible for efficiently and safely adjusting machines to produce greeting cards at the highest speed and quality possible. Interprets overlays, makes required measurements to 1/64”, and adjusts machines accordingly. Troubleshoots machines as needed to ensure safe operation. Cleans machines as required to prolong machine life. Advises coordinator on quality or output problems when they cannot be immediately resolved and understands safety is the main goal.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Set up safe, efficient operations of 10 or more types of machinery.
- Make minor repairs as outlined by maintenance and/or mechanical technician; assist maintenance in repair and overhaul of machines in assigned area.
- Keep machines clean and in good mechanical condition.
- Perform assigned stock work; check for proper identification on inbound and outbound stock; use banding tools, hand trucks, and power walkie stackers.
- Make necessary visual quality checks as specified by procedure and other special checks as assigned.
- Maintain production orders and machine logs as operation requires.
- Maintain good housekeeping and orderly arrangement of materials and equipment in assigned area.
- Perform average mathematical calculations and accurately determine measurements down to 1/64th of an inch.
- Train new operators as assigned.
Strenuous lifting and moving of machinery will be periodically required. Must be able to release jobs on the computer and use the computer to check component requirements.
Work EnvironmentMay be required to work in temperature extremes and crowded, dusty conditions. Work area needs to be clean of debris to ensure a safe workspace. Fast-paced environment with occasional heavy workload. Job may require working more than 40 hours a week quent fixed deadlines.
Experience Required1 year experience working in manufacturing.
Education RequiredHigh School or equivalent. Must be able to pass a mechanical, mathematical, and measurement test.
