Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Maintains accountability for his/her own practice; provides nursing care for patients; participates in patient and family teaching; and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the acute oncology care setting.

The Registered Nurse also delegates/provides direction to other nursing personnel in the unit in accordance with their level of experience and expertise.

Casual:
Monday-Thursday 8AM-4PM

• Provides skilled nursing care in accordance with nurse practice acts

• Coordinates and facilitates clinic schedule for oncologist
• Reviews charts prior to the oncology clinic day to ensure that all necessary documentation is organized and easily accessible for the Oncologist
• Pushes images to HP and faxes request for images to be uploaded.
• Facilitates scheduling of follow-up appointments, chemotherapy appointments, and any tests ordered by the Oncologist
• Ensures that orders are addressed accurately and timely.
• Summarizes clinic updates and shares with team via email.

• Demonstrates a team/collaborative approach with colleagues
• Helps and supports co-workers and physicians
• Helps and supports patients and their families
• Serves as the oncology expert in the clinic/hospital/community

• Applies knowledge base to clinical situation
• Prioritizes patient care based on individual, departmental, and overall hospital patient needs
• Initiates appropriate interventions in a timely manner

• Interacts with physicians regarding patient status on an ongoing basis
• Communicates effectively with all members of the patient care team
• Communicates patient status and plan of care with patient and their family

• Takes initiative to complete all mandatory education requirements including Health Stream without being reminded
• Attends 80% of department meetings annually.

• Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• ONS Biotherapy administration certification

• Participating in one or more voluntary activities to promote OMC including, but not limited to: community relations events, parades/community celebrations, open houses, etc.
• Quality Improvement activities Actively participates in hospital-wide quality improvement activities
• Community Education Actively participates in community education activities as available
• Provides outstanding customer service Outstanding customer service recognition nominee or letters of commendation from patients, patient families, or co-workers

• Ability to perform essential functions of a Registered Nurse
• Knowledge of current nursing practices and technical skills
