Role Overview
Ensure policies, procedures, and all activities pertaining to this position are carried out to support BRS goals and objectives for the Cold Mill and the Batch Anneal Furnace on their respective crew assignments.
Job ObjectiveEnsure policies, procedures, and all activities are carried out to support BRS goals for the Environmental Program and objectives at the Site level and in the Environmental Department as assigned.
Responsibilities- Ensure Safety, Environmental, Quality requirements and “where applicable” Responsible Steel requirements are followed.
- Support development and implementation of environmental management system for all employees.
- Coordinate and support ISO 14001 requirements.
- Document environmental compliance inspections of site facilities and operations.
- Review Environmental Department records for accuracy and entry into the BRS Management System/Intelex software in a timely manner.
- Recognize potential environmental performance issues and determine appropriate course of action.
- Coordinate Environmental training and record keeping in BRS Management System and Intelex software.
- Coordinate and assist in waste management, including solid, hazardous waste management and recycling streams.
- Communicate with vendors on proposals, purchase orders, deliveries, and invoicing.
- Assist in environmental compliance reporting.
- Enter purchase requests into Guide TI for the Environmental Department in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Senior Environmental Coordinator and Environmental Manager, as required.
- Assist Director/Environmental and Environmental Technician in daily activities if needed.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office/365 applications (Excel).
- Knowledge and experience of steel industry.
- Able to multi-task with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently of others with little supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a positive team player.
- College degree or equivalent recommended.
- Related experience in Environmental Compliance is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Position is typically in an office setting with a controlled environment. Physical responsibilities do include going into the mill, external locations, and supplier sites as needed. General work hours are expected with some overtime depending on the workload.
Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position does not supervise others.
