We are looking for a  Senior Buyer  with prior experience purchasing industrial distribution products.

Hybrid work model:
On site Tuesdays and Thursdays in Guelph.
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager  New Product Introduction   Support supplier negotiations and contracts for product launches.
Ensure contracts reflect launch volume forecasts, ramp‑up plans, and potential scale‑up needs.
Participate in new product development meetings to align procurement timelines with product development milestones.
Monitor supplier deliverables and proactively raise potential delays.
Oversee supplier and/or supply management for at least six months, or until supply stability is achieved, before transitioning responsibility to the buyer.
Monitor weekly forecasts to capture and address deviations between actual and forecasted demand.
Supplier Evaluation   Continuously monitor supplier performance metrics such as on‑time delivery, quality, lead time adherence, and order accuracy.
Document issues and drive continuous improvement efforts.
Manage the supplier evaluation process, including monthly review meetings.
Maintain detailed records of supplier performance, feedback, and actions taken.
Evaluate potential risks associated with supplier performance, including financial instability, labor strikes, or geopolitical issues.
Inventory & KPI Management   Review item settings regularly to improve replenishment efficiency and implement updates to safety stock, vendor price files, lead times, and item coverage.
Monitor and manage inventory levels to maintain daily service levels exceeding 98% with a minimum of four inventory turns per year.
Support vendor change management to control cost increases and improve cost efficiency across total spend.
Maintain regular stock replenishment schedules for assigned vendors (domestic and international) for all warehouses, including weekly transfer orders.
Address stock outs promptly to minimize sales impact.
Attend sales meetings to support the sales force and promote awareness of the purchasing role.
Ensure country‑of‑origin information for all suppliers is reviewed and updated annually.
Vendor Management   Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key vendors to foster trust, transparency, and growth.
Identify alternative suppliers or dual sourcing opportunities to mitigate risk.
Negotiate cost improvements and value‑added services based on performance and market benchmarks.
Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager to review and renew contracts as needed, aligning with changing business needs.
Investigate and resolve vendor‑related issues such as delays, quality defects, or communication gaps.
Conduct cost increase analyses and communicate findings to the Product Manager and Purchasing Manager, including implementation recommendations.
Organizational Engagement   Collaborate cross‑functionally and model a high‑performance culture.
Engage with sales teams to understand field and customer needs.
