Summary
Core Molding Technologies is seeking a Plant Controller to serve as a key business partner to plant leadership, driving financial performance, cost control, and operational decision-making.
This role is responsible for overseeing plant-level accounting, cost management, financial reporting, and internal controls, while providing actionable insights to support production, profitability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with plant leadership to drive financial performance and support operational decision-making
Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly financial results, KPIs, forecasts, and annual operating plans
Lead plant-level cost accounting, including variance analysis, standard costing, and cost improvement tracking
Ensure accuracy of inventory, bills of materials (BOM), and product costing
Monitor and reconcile inventory, production, shipping, and returns activity
Oversee month‑end close, including balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting
Maintain and enforce strong internal controls across operations, finance, and reporting
Analyze labor, material, overhead, and distribution costs to identify risks and opportunities
Support capital expenditure tracking and financial justification of investments
Partner with operations through daily production meetings and plant walkthroughs
Lead analysis of customer chargebacks, pricing changes, and margin impacts
Identify and manage excess and obsolete inventory risks
Coordinate with corporate finance and IT on reporting, systems, and compliance requirements
Support internal and external audits, including quarterly and year‑end activities
Lead and develop the plant finance team

Strong cost visibility and control across plant operations
Improved inventory accuracy and cost management
Effective partnership with plant leadership and cross‑functional teams
Identification and execution of cost‑saving and efficiency opportunities
Compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and financial standards
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
5‑10 years of experience in plant finance, cost accounting, or manufacturing finance leadership
Strong experience with cost accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis
Experience in a manufacturing environment (multi‑site or multi‑entity preferred)
High proficiency in Excel and ERP/MRP systems
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work cross‑functionally and influence operational decisions
Preferred
CPA, CMA, or MBA
Experience in multi‑company or multi‑currency environments
Experience supporting audits and implementing internal controls
Background in automotive, plastics, or industrial manufacturing
Full‑time, Monday through Friday. Occasional extended hours or weekend support may be required. This role operates in a manufacturing office and shop floor environment.
