Deliverables
- Lead and coordinate payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely execution of payroll processing, statutory remittances, year-end activities, and compliance requirements across the organization.
- Provide oversight, scheduling, training, and guidance to payroll analysts and HR staff while supporting payroll system readiness, testing, upgrades, and business continuity planning.
- Manage payroll reconciliations, reporting, audits, bulk uploads, and payroll accounting activities, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with legislative and collective agreement requirements.
- Act as a key liaison with internal stakeholders, government agencies, auditors, unions, and third-party providers to resolve complex payroll issues and support continuous process improvements.
Experience Required
- Minimum 2+ years of payroll operations and payroll analytics experience, including end-to-end payroll processing, off-cycle payroll runs, year-end processing (T4/T4A), reconciliations, and statutory remittances.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation, pension deductions, Records of Employment (ROEs), retroactive payments, terminations, and payroll compliance requirements.
- Experience performing payroll analysis, variance investigations, audit support, payroll reporting, root cause analysis, and data quality validation with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience supporting payroll system implementations or enhancements, including system testing, configuration validation, process documentation, and post-implementation support.
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources, or related discipline, with a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required and Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation considered an asset.
