About the Opportunity
Under the direction of the Manager, Finance the Financial Analyst coordinates the preparation of the annual agency budget, assists Managers in budget submissions to regional governments, prepares year‑to‑date financial reports, journal entries and reconciliations, prepares the Annual Grants utilization report for regional government, assists with preparation of monthly financial statements and reviews, performs variance analysis of monthly general ledger and financial statements, manages revenue recognition and funds analysis, maintains year‑end audit schedules, reconciles agency’s investments monthly and annually, prepares annual returns, completes GST returns semi‑annually, completes Statistics Canada reporting, prepares and posts payroll journal entries, and any other assignments directed by the Manager, Finance.
Responsibilities- Coordinate preparation of the annual agency budget
- Assist Managers in budget submissions to regional governments
- Prepare year‑to‑date financial reports
- Prepare journal entries and reconciliations
- Prepare Annual Grants utilization report for regional government
- Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and review them
- Perform variance analysis of monthly general ledger and financial statements
- Manage revenue recognition, funds analysis and complete government documents
- Maintain year‑end audit schedules
- Reconcile agency’s investments monthly and annually
- Prepare annual returns (e.g., Charity Information Return)
- Complete GST returns semi‑annually
- Complete Statistics Canada reporting
- Prepare and post payroll journal entries
- Handle other assignments as directed by the Manager, Finance
- Completion of post‑secondary education
- Two to five years of experience in financial accounting, auditing and/or budgeting
- Knowledge of principles and practices employed in financial analysis, budget development and control techniques
- Strong analytical, research, problem‑solving and resolution abilities
- Ability to communicate results of analysis and interact effectively with leaders at all levels of the organization
- Strategic thinking and effectiveness under difficult challenges
- Highly organized and effective at prioritizing and meeting deadlines
- Ability to work with minimal direction and align work with program and agency goals
- Strong project management skills
- Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, macros, lookup functions), SAGE, Microsoft Word and Power Point
- Experience with Dayforce Payroll and HR module an asset
$80,000 – $90,000 per year
