This position is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of HR operations while working collaboratively with internal departments across the organization. It includes recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and payroll and tax administration using ADP Workforce. As the sole HR professional in Canada, it plays a key role in ensuring compliance with Canadian and provincial employment legislation while supporting effective organizational operations and employee engagement.
Key ResponsibilitiesRecruitment & Onboarding
- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including job postings, interview coordination, and offer administration
- Conduct employee onboarding and offboarding processes
- Liaise with recruitment agencies and external vendors as needed
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee HR‑related inquiries
- Administer attendance, leave, and benefits programs
- Support employee relations matters, disciplinary actions, and exit interviews
Payroll & Tax Administration
- Process and manage payroll using ADP Workforce
- Input, review, and maintain payroll data including wages, deductions, overtime, and vacation
- Act as the primary contact with ADP for payroll‑related inquiries
- Support tax‑related requirements in compliance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations
- Coordinate annual payroll reporting, including T4 preparation, in collaboration with external accountants
Performance Management & Development
- Administer performance review and evaluation processes
- Support training and employee development initiatives
- Assist employees with career development and growth opportunities
Compliance & HR Operations
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment legislation (Employment Standards, Human Rights, OH&S, etc.)
- Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and internal regulations
- Maintain HRIS data and prepare HR‑related reports
- Collaborate with internal departments and external professionals (accountants, legal counsel, consultants)
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources
- Working knowledge of Canadian employment standards and labor legislation
- Hands‑on experience with payroll and tax administration
- Experience using ADP Workforce or similar payroll systems
- Experience operating as a sole HR professional or HR Generalist
- Experience in a small to mid‑size, multicultural organization
- Experience working with Japanese or multinational companies
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in MS Office, HRIS, and payroll systems
