Reporting to the Supervisor(s) of Operations – Roads/Traffic, and under the direction of the Working Foreperson(s), the Labourer is responsible for providing general labour for duties involved within the Roads and Traffic sections of the Public Works Department, including:
operating and maintaining various equipment, vehicles and tools
flagging and traffic control
installation of traffic signs and detours
repairing and/or installing Town fences
concrete repairs and installation
assisting with roadway patrolling, maintenance, repairs and/or clean up
tree trimming and/or removal
snow clearing and application of salt on the road and/or sidewalk areas
ensuring all equipment and/or tools are operated in a safe and professional manner
providing excellent customer service, including responding to inquiries/concerns from the general public and other members of staff in a courteous manner
and, assisting with other duties as assigned
