Position: Electrical Estimator (Lead)

Job Description

The Lead Project Estimator contributes to the overall success of CR Meyer and its heavy industrial customers through effectively managing estimates provided for heavy industrial construction projects related to electrical services provided. Works with Project Managers, Design/Build team members, owners, business partners and other interested parties to ensure estimates are prepared in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Prepares, reviews, and finalizes estimates to ensure bid accuracy and completeness. Follows up on completed bids to ensure receipt and determine outcome.
  • Performs takeoffs on screen and from drawings (i.e., circuiting and scaling drawings, counting devices and instruments, power, etc.).
  • Works collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineers, Architects, and Owners on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Utilizes Accubid software to perform job duties and assists in developing/maintaining related SOPs.
  • Works within the department to update and enhance the performance of estimating systems and software.
  • Assists with development of department design standards and procedures.
  • Interacts with clients to collaborate on design intent.
  • Interfaces with Design/Build department to develop drawings for projects.
  • Maintains positive relationships with fellow co-workers, customers, suppliers, and vendors. Takes the lead to contact appropriate parties (consultant, engineer, owner, etc.) to answer and/or clarify any questions and ambiguities.
  • Provides guidance to project managers to ensure that construction activities comply with specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Acts as the primary resource on project estimating.
  • Ensures projects are documented properly and effectively using customer specifications as well as prescribed standards and best practices.
  • Leads by personal example and is a strong advocate for the CR Meyer Mission-Vision-Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Ensures that all safety measures are taken into account when preparing estimates.
  • Wears all assigned PPE and observes CR Meyer safety guidelines at all times.
  • Due to project deadlines and demands, regular and reliable attendance is required.
  • Completes all related paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Represents the CR Meyer brand in a positive, professional manner at all times.
  • All other duties as assigned.
