Job Duties:
The School of Public Affairs and Global Engagement at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Criminal Justice. We seek a dynamic scholar and educator to contribute to the largest Major in the School of PAGE (Criminal Justice) and to our expanding Forensic Investigation Minor, a program supported by the Disciplines of Anthropology and Criminal Justice.
The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related discipline. Candidates with a Ph.D. from the natural sciences will be considered if they have relevant experience in criminalistics/forensic applications from working at federal/state/local crime labs. Current tenured/tenure-track criminal justice faculty hold Ph.D.'s in a variety of fields, including Criminology, Sociology, Political Science, Social Welfare, Forensic Anthropology, and Criminal Justice.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to maintain an active research agenda (research specialization is open) leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals. They must also be able to teach quality undergraduate criminal justice courses (on campus and online) leading to the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with the ability to teach courses in at least three of the areas listed below:
* Juvenile Justice System
* Criminal Court Behavior
* Illegal Bias in the Criminal Justice System
* Adjudication Process in Criminal Justice
* Introduction to Criminal Justice
* Introduction to Forensic Investigation
* Criminal Investigation
* Crime Scene Documentation and Evidence Collection
* Human Dental Anatomy and Forensic Odontology
* Comparative Criminal Justice Policies
The successful hire will have the opportunity to develop their own specialized courses that contribute to the Criminal Justice, Forensic Investigation, and Anthropology curriculum. Additional responsibilities include actively participating in research/scholarship/professional activities, providing career and academic advising/mentorship to students, and participating in school, college, university, and public service.

Required Qualifications:
* Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related discipline. Candidates with a Ph.D. from the natural sciences will be considered if they have relevant experience in criminalistics/forensic applications from working at federal/state/local crime labs
* Background or experience necessary to teach courses (on-campus and/or in asynchronous online format) in at least three of the following areas: juvenile justice system, criminal court behavior, illegal bias in the criminal justice system, adjudication process in criminal justice, introduction to criminal justice process, introduction to forensic investigation, criminal investigation, crime scene documentation and evidence collection, human dental anatomy and forensic odontology, or comparative criminal justice policies.
* Established record of publication in scholarly journals related to their specialization or demonstrated potential to establish a successful record of scholarly publications in the area of criminology or criminal justice.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous teaching experience as the instructor of record in, at least, two of the areas described above.
