Job Description & How to Apply Below

Bible teachers are responsible for delivering engaging, biblically grounded instruction while helping students grow in faith, character, identity, and purpose. This occurs by providing exceptional classroom instruction while also playing a central role in the spiritual, emotional, and relational development of students both in and out of the classroom.

This position works with many parts of the organization to facilitate quality student formation: academics, counseling, wellness, student formation, and administration. Because of this complex responsibility, Bible teachers serve as key culture carriers within the VCHS community.

Unique Nature of the Role

At Valley Christian High School, Bible teachers serve at the intersection of academic excellence, spiritual formation, and student care. In addition to being exceptional classroom instructors, Bible teachers are expected to serve as shepherds, mentors, and relational leaders who partner closely with Counseling, Wellness, Spiritual Formation, and Administration in supporting the holistic development of students.

Because of this expanded ministry role, Bible teachers should anticipate a higher level of involvement in the spiritual and relational life of the school than is typical of a traditional teaching position. This includes participation in retreats, student discipleship initiatives, parent engagement opportunities, spiritual formation events, and selected evening, weekend, and summer commitments.

In addition to strong relational and shepherding abilities, successful Bible teachers must demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and administrative skills. They are expected to follow through on documentation, student support processes, communication responsibilities, curriculum development, and collaborative initiatives with a high degree of consistency and professionalism. Loving students well and master teaching is essential, but so is the ability to manage details, maintain records, communicate proactively, and execute responsibilities that support the broader spiritual formation system.

Application

Process

Selected candidates will participate in a teaching demonstration and department interview. Candidates who advance in the hiring process will receive the full position description and Bible Teacher Role Expectations document prior to the interview process so they may fully understand the scope, responsibilities, and ministry commitments associated with the role. Base Salary ranges from $77,000 to $108,000 per year, based on degree and years of experience.

Additional compensation is given for obtaining an ACSI teaching credential, a Master's Degree, and a Doctorate's Degree.
