Job DutiesJoin a dynamic academic community where your organizational expertise and administrative skills play a vital role in supporting student success, faculty excellence, and innovative programs. As a Department Assistant within the School of STEM, you will provide high‑level administrative support to academic leadership, including a disciplinary program administrator, the Director of the School of STEM, and the Dean of the College of Nursing, Health Professions and STEM.
This highly collaborative, on‑site position offers the opportunity to work closely with a wide range of faculty, staff, students, and external partners while helping ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the School and its programs.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve problems regarding technical systems and programs related to department operations.
- Coordinate projects and program components including scheduling and logistics, unit workflow, and identify areas for process improvements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain methods and organizational systems directed at the maintenance of electronic/physical records related to department operations according to established policies and procedures.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for the department.
- Provide operational guidance and training on day‑to‑day activities of student workers and program staff.
- Monitor the department, unit or program budget and expenses, and may assist in the development of program budget and projections.
- Health plans starting at $45 per month.
- Vacation starting at 104 hours per year (prorated for start date).
- 36 hours of personal holiday and 9 legal holidays (prorated for start date).
- 5 hours of sick leave earned per biweekly pay period (130 hours per calendar year).
- Paid parental leave after six months of continuous employment.
- Wisconsin Retirement System (pension) with 7.2% employer contribution for 2026.
Starting at $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications- High School Diploma.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and Adobe Suite software programs.
- Previous experience in state policies governing General Program Revenue funds.
- Previous experience with UW Oshkosh institutional processes for purchasing, travel and vendor payments.
- Previous experience in managing grant applications.
