Job DutiesEngages students as active partners in their academic decision‑making. Guides course selection, degree planning, and navigation of university policies while promoting informed, responsible choices aligned with students’ goals. Maintains accurate advising records and contributes to the planning and delivery of UARC advising programs, events, and outreach initiatives. Delivers timely, accurate, holistic advising that supports student success, persistence, and on‑time graduation, while fostering a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive environment where all Titans feel valued and supported.
Key Job Responsibilities- Participates in the campus-wide advising community providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college.
- Receives, processes, and responds to academic inquiries according to established policies and procedures.
- Serves as a main point of contact for students and provides information about educational options and academic requirements; assists with identifying and assessing interests, skills, and values to match appropriate field of study/career options, and refers students to appropriate institutional resources.
- Implements academic advising events such as workshops, panel discussions, and guest speakers.
- Maintains confidentiality and accurate student records and processes and responds to academic inquiries according to established institutional and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policies.
- Maintains expertise with advised curriculum and may assist in developing and recommending exceptions for policy and curriculum.
- Proactively engages students as needed.
Undergraduate Academic Resource Center (UARC)
CompensationStarting at $45,000 commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree.
- Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Presentation skills.
- Ability to use, learn, and adapt to a variety of technology platforms, that change regularly, used in the delivery of advising (i.e., Micro Soft Office, People Soft, Navigate, AI, etc.).
- Commitment to delivery of high quality academic advising to a diverse college student population.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment; learn and communicate continually changing and detailed information.
- Master's Degree in Counseling, Higher Education, or related area.
- Preferred Experience:
2+ years. - Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Advising or counseling experience.
- Experience working and communicating with a variety of teens, adults, and/or stakeholders from varying backgrounds and learning styles.
- Experience working in higher education.
- Teaching or training experience.
- Knowledge of student development theory.
- Experience advising non-traditional students in online programs.
