Job Overview
The Transfer Recruiter is responsible for developing and implementing recruitment and yield strategies focused on transfer students, reentry students, and individuals who have previously attended but stopped out of higher education. The role advances enrollment goals by cultivating relationships with prospective students, community colleges, university partners, and internal campus stakeholders, and by removing barriers related to credit transfer, finances, and reentry logistics to support student success.
Key Responsibilities- Advising & Student Support
- Serve as a member of the transfer team for prospective transfer and reentry students, providing clear, timely, and personalized guidance on application, transfer credit evaluation, and degree completion pathways.
- Assist students in identifying and overcoming barriers to enrollment—academic, financial, or personal—by connecting them with the right campus resources and support systems.
- Provide referrals for academic advising, financial aid counseling, career services, and other student success programs.
- Deliver presentations and workshops to prospective students, advisors, and community partners.
- Communication & Collaboration
- Develop and manage communication plans tailored to transfer, reentry, and stop‑out populations, in collaboration with communications and marketing colleagues.
- Contribute to the development of digital and print recruitment materials highlighting transfer pathways, articulation agreements, and adult learner resources.
- Partner with campus offices to streamline reentry admissions processes, reduce obstacles, and enhance the overall transfer and reentry student experience.
- Application Processing & Enrollment Management
- Review and evaluate applications for transfer, reentry, and stop‑out admission.
- Evaluate prior coursework for transferability and applicability to degree requirements using Transferology and other transfer credit tools.
- Collaborate with the registrar’s office and academic departments to ensure accurate credit articulation, admission, and timely communication.
- Document student interactions and generate reports to contribute to enrollment forecasting and program effectiveness evaluation.
- Recruitment & Outreach
- Develop and execute targeted recruitment strategies to increase enrollment of transfer, reentry, and stop‑out students.
- Build strong partnerships with regional community colleges, technical colleges, and other feeder institutions.
- Conduct proactive outreach to former students with some college credit but no degree, encouraging and supporting re-enrollment.
- Represent the university at transfer fairs, community college visits, and community-based events; maintain a recruitment schedule/plan, including travel for relationship-building and events.
Starting at $45,000 and commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with various populations.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Must have a valid driver’s license for at least two years, willingness to travel (including overnights and weekends), and the ability to become a university authorized driver at the time of appointment.
- Experience in admissions, advising, transfer services, or related areas in higher education.
- Knowledge of transfer credit evaluation processes, with experience using Transferology or comparable tools.
- Knowledge of transfer student issues, community college systems, and degree completion initiatives.
- Familiarity with CRM systems, student information systems (Peoplesoft), and data-driven recruitment strategies.
- Experience working with adult learners, non‑traditional students, or stop‑out/reentry populations.
