Program OverviewEarly Childhood Education teachers will work within the UW Oshkosh Head Start program, a federally funded, preschool program for low‑income families. Each position works collaboratively to develop skills and practices that support school readiness for each child and the comprehensive services offered to each child and family. Classrooms contain 15–16 children. The school runs September through May with additional August hours for staff.
The program embraces the High/Scope curriculum and offers many professional development opportunities, while implementing the Pyramid Model and Conscious Discipline programs to support social/emotional development.
New hires working 21 hours or more per week will receive a $500 bonus after 90 days. New hires working 20 hours or less per week will receive a $250 bonus after the 90‑day period.
Key Job Responsibilities- Maintain the safety and physical well‑being of children in a designated classroom
- Maintain and document effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to relay pertinent information and provide updates of child activities per established guidelines and regulations
- Mentor new teachers and students
- Evaluate individualized and developmental educational plans for children in collaboration with other stakeholders, as needed
- Plan and facilitate classroom programming and schedules daily classroom activities for an early childhood education facility according to established curriculums
- 4K Teachers – $46,464
- Non‑4K Teachers – $33,169.20 – $35,954.40
4K Teacher:
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and/or related field
- Wisconsin Pre‑Kindergarten certification #080, 086, 088, or 090
Non‑4K Teacher:
- Associate degree or higher in early childhood education or degree in related field with experience teaching preschool
